Common questions about Dental Sedation
Center of Connecticut
What is the Dental Sedation Center of Connecticut (DSCC)?
DSCC is a multi-operatory ambulatory surgery center dedicated exclusively to dental procedures performed under sedation and general anesthesia in a hospital-grade environment.
What anesthesia services are provided and by whom?
Board eligible and certified anesthesia providers offer individualized anesthesia based on medical history and procedure complexity. They provide care consistent with all American Society of Anesthesiologist standards, including, but not limited to:
- EKG
- Pulse-Oximetry
- Capnography
- Blood pressure
- Temperature
What cases are appropriate for referral to DSCC?
DSCC is designed for patients who cannot comfortably or safely complete dental treatment in a traditional office setting. We are equipped for medically complex patients and coordinates required medical clearances, labs, and pre-operative planning.
Common indications include:
- Extensive treatment needs (full mouth rehabilitation, multiple quadrants)
- Pediatric patients requiring comprehensive care in one visit
- Severe dental anxiety or dental phobia
- Patients with unique medical needs (autism, developmental delay, sensory disorders)
- Patients unable to cooperate for in-office sedation
- Medically complex patients (ASA I–II and select ASA III, with clearance)
- Gag reflex preventing treatment
- Traumatic or surgical extractions
- Patients requiring airway-controlled general anesthesia
We support all outpatient dental surgical procedures that would benefit from sedation.
Who performs dentistry?
At DSCC, the referring dentist performs the dentistry. This allows you to maintain continuity of care and foster long-term relationships.
We do not compete with your practice. We function as your surgical facility partner.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes — DSCC accepts all major insurances, including HUSKY Health (Connecticut Medicaid).
How quickly can patients be scheduled?

We prioritize urgent infection, pain, and medical necessity cases.
